• Jet-A engines are now commonly used in general aviation. High utilization operators, such as flight schools, aerial work companies and surveillance operators, have transitioned to Jet-A engines. They offer significant savings on fuel burn and maintenance costs and down time. Jet-A engines, by using the Diesel cycle, burn less fuel (30 to 40 % less when compared to AvGas engines). Furthermore, Jet-A, in most regions of the world, is significantly cheaper than AvGas. In addition to this, scheduled maintenance intervals are significantly reduced when using a jet fuel piston engine. This means more hours flying and less hours in the maintenance hangar.

    The CD-100 Series

    The CD-100 series offers two different engines: the CD-135, CD-155, and CD-170. They both offer many innovative features, including dual redundant electronic engine management (FADEC), a gearbox with torsional damper and adaption of its fuel system for jet fuels. As a result, it offers unrivaled safety, comfort, cost-effectiveness and overall performance when compared to conventional AvGas engines:


    • Electronic engine and prop management with single-lever control.
    • Electronic data logging to record all the engine data during flight. The data recording and storage is comparable to the black box used in jets. Data can therefore be saved and used for the maintenance, fault analysis and ongoing improvement of the engine.
    • Ease of maintenance.
    • Modern technology in the overall design, components, materials and production process (traceability back to molten mass).


    • Single-lever control reduces the pilot workload. No adjustments of levers for load, mixture, revs, prop settings etc. necessary. One single lever. The electronics manage the rest!
